Tower announced the winner of the ’WIN a mobile office worth R20 000′ promotion as John Wertheim from Kenilworth, Cape Town.

Wertheim, a grade five teacher at St Augustine’s Primary School, took home a mobile office worth R20, 000. His prize includes an Asus Laptop, Samsung Laser Printer, as well as a Blackberry Phone 8270.

Mr. Wertheim will be using the prize to plan for his lessons: “I am so delighted as I badly needed a new computer. Both myself  and my  learners will benefit from this prize as I will be using it to plan classes, produce recording sheets and work sheets as well as compile reports for my students,” he enthuses.

Wertheim, who uses Tower star stickers  to mark his learner’s work as well as the Tower Teacher’s Labels to write encouraging messages for his learners, stated that he will continue to use Tower products for  as long as he teaches.

Here is a simple, two-step guide on how you can make your life easier, as well as save time and money, by printing your own business cards:

What you will need:
• 250gsm clean-cut Tower business card sheets
• Inkjet or laser printer
• Template disk downloadable from the Tower website or available on Microsoft 2007 and upwards.
• LabelArt software (optional)

Step 1: Design
Think about the look-and-feel you would like to achieve on your card as well as the required information before proceeding with the design. Once you are ready to design, visit the Tower site for software that will make designing your cards a walk in the park.

You can download any of the pre-designed templates from the wide range available on the Tower website. The range of templates will provide you with basic design capabilities.

If you want to design a business card with a more elaborate aesthetic, you can purchase LabelArt software, which comprehensively covers all aspects of desktop labelling. The labelling software includes over 600 clipart images and various drawing tools to choose from. A 30 day trial version of LabelArt can be downloaded from the Tower website.

You do not need to be a designer to do this, with features such as the unique text rotation tool , you can even rotate any line of text to any angle or place your text around an arch or circle.

The added bonus is that what you see on the screen is what you get so you do not have to worry about the quality of the printed cards.

Step 2: Print
The 10-up clean-cut sheets of cards ensure that you do not have to spend time, money or effort on guillotining your cards.  Just feed the A4 sheets into your inkjet or laser printer and print, once printing is complete simply peel the cards off the backing sheets and your done.

The fact that you print out the cards yourself means that you do not have to order 500 or 1000 cards at a time nor do you have to wait for a week for the order.  You can simply print out your desired quantity using your inkjet or laser printer whenever you need them. The bonus is that if your details change, you can simply go back to your machine, edit and print out more cards.

There is no longer a need to brief in a designer or deal with suppliers. Tower business cards are a wonderful innovative way of saving you time and money and making your life easier. All that is required is your imagination.

Microsoft Word 6 and up, CorelDRAW 8 and up for PC, CorelDRAW 8 for MAC, Corel WordPerfect 7 and up, Corel PrintOffice, Lotus WordPro 2000 and Freehand for Mac.

Printing the labels is the easiest part. You do not need a specialised printer. Tower inkjet-laser labels are fully compatible with copiers, inkjet and laser printers, and have been tested with leading printer brands including H.P, Lexmark, Canon and many others.

1. Download the “Tower CILdisk” from the downloads section on the Tower website.
2. Open “Windows Explorer”, find the saved file on your “C” drive and double click on it to Unzip to “C:\Temp”
3. Once it is unzipped, in Explorer, open the “Temp” folder in click on the CILdisk icon (black Tower logo next to it) and follow the instructions on your screen.

A printer driver interprets the signals sent through the cable that connects your printer to your computer. For example, your computer will not know if your printer can print envelopes unless your printer driver is set up correctly on your computer. The driver tells your computer which printer model you have and what your printer is capable of doing. Your printer driver must match your printer model and your operating system (for example, Windows 2000)
